The Indians will send Jason Davis to the mound this evening. Davis is winless in his last five starts, posting a 0-2 record. The righthander last won on June 29th against the Cincinnati Reds. In that contest, the 23-year-old allowed only one run on five hits in 7 2/3 innings. Davis has struggled on the road this season, posting a 4-5 record with an ERA of 5.52. The righthander's only career start against the Rangers lasted just four innings, in which he allowed two runs on five hits and three walks. In last night's game, Ben Broussard homered and drove in two, and the Indians could muster just five total hits and fell to 4-10 since the All-Star break. Rookie Billy Traber (5-6) had won his last two decisions, but was throttled by Texas, giving up three homers in two innings pitched. He allowed six runs on five hits and two walks while fanning two. Outfielder Jody Gerut is on a nine-game hitting streak with five runs, two home runs and seven RBI in that span. The Indians are 20-37 on the road this season. The Indians have lost nine of their last 10 road contests. These teams have met seven times this year with the Indians leading the series, 4-3.
