Los Angeles Dodgers Team Report - August 6 ===
(My Sportsbook) - The Dodgers will shoot for their third consecutive win tonight, when they continue their three-game set against the Cincinnati Reds at Chavez Ravine.
Los Angeles registered a 5-2 win in the series opener on Tuesday. Kevin Brown pitched into the seventh inning for his first win in seven starts. Brown (11-5) gave up two runs on eight hits with a walk and nine strikeouts in 6 2/3 innings.
He had been 0-4 in his previous six outings and won for the first time since June 17 when he beat San Francisco for his ninth straight victory. The veteran righthander also improved to 8-2 lifetime against the Reds.
Shawn Green broke a fifth-inning tie with a two-run double and Alex Cora added a homer, a double and two runs scored for the Dodgers, who have won two straight after losing five in a row and seven of their previous eight. Green finished 2-for-4.
Green's 38th double tied him for second place in the league behind Albert Pujols, who has 39, and ties him for seventh on the all-time L.A. Dodger single-season list.
Heading to the mound for the Dodgers tonight will be 26-year-old lefthander Odalis Perez. The southpaw has lost two consecutive decisions, including an ugly defeat to Philadelphia on July 31. Perez was touched up for five hits and six runs over 4 1/3 innings, while fanning five and walking two. The Dominican hurler hasn't won since July 10.
Perez owns an impressive 1-0 mark with a 1.74 ERA in three career starts against the Reds. This will be his first outing versus Cincinnati this season.
The Reds took two of three from the Dodgers in April. Despite Tuesday's loss, Cincy owns a 10-6 advantage in this series since 2001. Cincy has still won five of its last seven games at Dodger Stadium.
Eric Gagne is perfect with 36 saves in as many opportunities, one shy of Dennis Eckersley for the second-longest streak to start a season. His overall streak of 44 saves dating to last year is second-longest to Tom Gordon's 54.
