St. Petersburg, FL (My Sportsbook) - The Tampa Bay Devil Rays have traded right-handed pitcher Seth McClung to the Milwaukee Brewers in exchange for right-handed pitcher Grant Balfour. Milwaukee was forced to part with Balfour, who was out of options, because they needed roster space for Scott Linebrink, whom they acquired in a trade with San Diego on Wednesday. Linebrink, due to a family engagement, didn't join the Brewers until Friday afternoon. Balfour was 0-2 with a 20.25 ERA in three appearances for Milwaukee. McClung, 26, pitched in 85 games for Tampa Bay from 2003-2006 with a 6.28 ERA. He has a 1.99 ERA in 40 appearances for Triple-A Durham this season, and was optioned to Triple-A Nashville by the Brewers as soon as they acquired him.
