San Diego Padres Team Report - August 11 ===
(My Sportsbook) - On Sunday, Rondell White went 3-for-4 with a run batted in, as the San Diego Padres downed the Cincinnati Reds, 2-0, in the rubber match of a three-game series at Qualcomm Stadium.
Ryan Klesko, Mark Kotsay, Phil Nevin and Mark Loretta each added a pair of hits for the Padres, who won for the second time in six games.
Brian Lawrence (6-14) tossed six shutout innings to snap a personal five-game skid. He surrendered six hits, while striking out four and walking two in his first win since July 1 against Los Angeles.
Luther Hackman, Jay Witasick and Rod Beck each tossed a scoreless inning of relief to complete the shutout. Beck picked up his 16th save of the year by pitching out of a jam in the ninth.
Beck has converted all 16 of his save opportunities this season.
Following a day off today, the Padres will be back at it on Tuesday when they begin a three-game set with the winningest team in baseball, the Atlanta Braves, at Turner Field.
Getting the ball for the padres in the series-opener will be righthander Adam Eaton, who is 6-9 on the year with a 4.14 ERA. The 25-year-old hurler suffered his first loss more than a month in his last outing, as he fell to the Chicago Cubs on Wednesday.
In that contest he allowed three runs on six hits in seven innings, falling for the first time since a June 27 loss to the Seattle Mariners.
Eaton has faced he Braves twice in his career and has not recorded a decision, while pitching to a 3.75 ERA in 12 innings of work against them.
Loretta has 138 hits for the year and is on pace for 188, which would give him four more than the team record for a second baseman, set by Roberto Alomar in 1989
San Diego was swept by the Braves earlier in the season, getting outscored 39-15 in the process.
