Columbus, OH (My Sportsbook) - Ohio State running back Maurice Clarett met with NCAA officials and Ohio State athletic director Andy Geiger on Monday. Details of the discussion were not made available, although Clarett was joined by his mother and attorney, Scott Schiff. Football Hall of Famer Jim Brown was also with Clarett and his family during the day. Clarett has not been allowed to practice with the defending national champions while investigations by the school and NCAA continue. A university committee is investigating whether Clarett received assistance to pass a class before the Fiesta Bowl last year. Clarett was allowed to take an oral exam to pass African-American and African Studies 101. The NCAA, meanwhile, is trying to determine if Clarett broke any rules for use of a car that was broken into in April. Clarett borrowed a vehicle from a car dealer and filed a theft report with police, saying he had lost more than $6,000 in cash, clothes and stereo equipment. He later admitted to exaggerating the value of some of the lost items. Clarett set school freshman records with 1,237 yards rushing and 16 touchdowns last season for the Buckeyes. Ohio State opens the season on August 30 at home against Washington.
