Miami, FL (My Sportsbook) - The Florida Marlins placed reliever Tommy Phelps on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday with left elbow tendinitis. The move is retroactive to August 2nd. To fill the roster spot, Florida recalled pitcher Chad Fox from Triple-A Albuquerque. Fox had a 3.86 ERA in three games with the Isotopes, not earning a decision in 2 1/3 innings pitched. He was 1-2 with a 4.50 ERA in 17 games for the Boston Red Sox this season. Phelps, meanwhile, is 3-2 with a 4.00 ERA in 27 games this season -- including seven starts. The rookie lefthander hasn't pitched since July 24th. |
