Minneapolis, MN (My Sportsbook) - The Minnesota Timberwolves added Sid Lowe to their coaching staff on Wednesday, bringing him back to the team that he played for during its inaugural season, and then later head coached. Lowe joins Randy Wittman, Jerry Sichting, Greg Ballard and Don Zierden on the coaching staff under head coach Flip Saunders. Most recently, Lowe spent two-plus seasons as the head coach of the Vancouver/Memphis Grizzlies. He guided the team to a then franchise-best 23 wins in each of his first two campaigns. He resigned during the 2002-03 season, and was replaced with Hubie Brown. After a playing career that included stops with the Hornets, Pacers and Pistons, in addition to the Timberwolves, Lowe began his coaching career as a Minnesota assistant in 1991-92. He became head coach midway through the 1992-93 season, compiling a 13-30 record to finish out that campaign, and a 20-62 record in 1993-94. He worked as a Cleveland Cavaliers assistant from 1994-99, and rejoined the Timberwolves as an assistant coach for the 1999-2000 season, before becoming the head man in Vancouver. Lowe was a starter on North Carolina State's 1983 NCAA title squad.
