=== Leafs ink McCabe to one-year deal === Toronto, ON (My Sportsbook) - The Toronto Maple Leafs re-signed restricted free agent defenseman Bryan McCabe to a one year contract on Friday. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. "I'm glad to get it done early. I've always said I love this city and it's a great place to play," McCabe said. "I've worked really hard this summer to get back to where I was two years ago." The 28-year-old registered 24 points (six goals, 18 assists) with 135 penalty minutes in 75 games for the Maple Leafs last year. In 633 career NHL games, McCabe has collected 60 goals and 157 assists with 1176 penalty minutes. In 2001-02 season, the Ontario native set career highs with 17 goals and 26 assists, tying him for second among NHL defenseman in goals and ranking him 13th in points, while playing in all 82 games for the Leafs. McCabe has played for the New York Islanders, Vancouver Canucks and Chicago Blackhawks, in addition to Toronto, during his eight NHL seasons. |
