Chicago, IL (My Sportsbook) - The Chicago Blackhawks will try and stretch their unbeaten streak to four tonight when they welcome the
Los Angeles Kings to the United Center to wrap up a three-game homestand.
Tyler Arnason's tally with 6.2 seconds remaining lifted Chicago to a 3-2 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets on Tuesday. Lyle Odelein and Steve Sullivan also scored for Chicago, which picked up its second straight win and ran its unbeaten streak to three games (2-0-1).
On the game-winning goal Alexei Zhamnov won the faceoff to Igor Korolev, who fed the puck back to the point for Alexander Karpovtsev. Karpovtsev then fired a shot toward the net and the puck deflected off the shaft of Arnason's stick and through the legs of Columbus netminder Marc Denis. It was Arnason's third tally of the year.
Jocelyn Thibault turned aside 20 shots for the Blackhawks to earn his 200th career win.
On the milestone watch is Steve Thomas, who is two goals shy of 400 for his career. Thomas was assessed five-minute major penalty and a game-misconduct for ramming Rostislav Klesla into the boards from behind in the win on Tuesday.
The Kings enter Thursday's tilt on the heels of a 4-0 blanking of the hapless Atlanta Thrashers, but after the game no one seemed to be too concerned about the win.
Leading scorer Jason Allison was forced to leave the contest in the first period after a knee-to-knee hit delivered by Andy Sutton. Allison underwent an MRI on Wednesday that revealed a torn medial collateral ligament in his right knee. He is expected to be sidelined for 2-3 months.
Los Angeles can ill afford to lose Allison, as it is already without top-line winger Ziggy Palffy, who missed his third straight game on Tuesday and sixth in the last seven with a strained groin.
Felix Potvin was sensational in the victory by stopping 25 shots for his 26th career shutout and Lubomir Visnovsky and Mikko Eloranta both scored twice for the Kings, who moved to 2-1-2 in their last five.
The Kings have won two straight after going winless in the last six meetings. However, LA is 13-4-3 in the last 20 meetings.
Los Angeles is 1-2-1 in its last four at Chicago, but 8-2-1 in the last 11 in the Windy City.
