Jacksonville, FL (My Sportsbook) - The Jacksonville Jaguars placed linebacker Tony Gilbert on injured reserve on Sunday and signed veteran linebacker Chris Claiborne. Gilbert, who suffered a biceps injury in Thursday's preseason contest against the Green Bay Packers, played in 56 straight games with Jacksonville since joining the team in 2003. Last season, the 27-year-old led the team in special teams tackles. The 29-year-old Claiborne appeared in only four games last year with the New York Giants. The former ninth overall pick of Detroit in the 1999 NFL Draft, Claiborne has registered 567 tackles, 15 sacks and eight interceptions with the Lions, Minnesota, St. Louis and the Giants. Jacksonville also placed defensive end Brian Smith on the physically unable to perform list, waived kicker Aaron Elling and signed linebacker Kevis Coley and defensive tackle Joe Anoai.
