Dallas, TX (My Sportsbook) - Kirk Muller has decided to call it a career after 19 seasons as a player in the National Hockey League. The 37-year-old Muller played in 1,349 regular-season games and collected 357 goals, 602 assists and 1,223 penalty minutes. He also participated in 127 postseason contests, registering 33 goals and 36 assists. "For me, coming from Kingston, just watching him grow up and play you could see how good he was," said former teammate Doug Gilmour. "We became good friends, and I had the opportunity to play with him in Toronto. To play 19 years in this league, that's a great career." A six-time All-Star, Muller, who was originally drafted by the New Jersey Devils with the second overall pick in the 1984 NHL entry draft, also spent time with the Montreal Canadiens, New York Islanders, Toronto Maple Leafs, Florida Panthers, and Dallas Stars. Muller, a 30-goal scorer five times in his career, was a member of the 1993 Montreal team that won the Stanley Cup. "It was great to be able to start out with Kirk in New Jersey and then have the opportunity to play again together in Dallas later in our careers," said former teammate John MacLean. "I doubt anyone will come along that enjoyed the game of hockey or played with the same passion that Kirk did, he had unbelievable intensity."
