New York, NY (My Sportsbook) - Detroit Tigers outfielder Magglio Ordonez was named the American League Player of the Month for August. Ordonez, a six-time All-Star, hit .393 with 46 hits and knocked in 31 runs in 29 games. He also belted 10 home runs, hit five doubles and crossed the plate 24 times. Ordonez, who captured his second-career player of the month award, also posted a .692 slugging percentage and a .445 on-base percentage. Among those players also receiving votes were Vladimir Guerrero and Garret Anderson of the LA Angels of Anaheim; Seattle's Raul Ibanez; Mike Lowell of the Boston Red Sox; Minnesota's Jason Bartlett and Carl Crawford of the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. New York Yankees left-hander Andy Pettitte earned the American League Pitcher of the Month award while Kansas City Royals right-hander Brian Bannister nabbed American League Rookie of the Month honors.
