Sunrise, FL (My Sportsbook) - The Florida Panthers signed unrestricted free- agent left wing Jonas Hoglund to a one-year contract Thursday. As per club policy, financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Hoglund played in 79 games for Toronto last season, scoring 13 goals and assisting on 19 others. He tallied one playoff assist in seven games for the Maple Leafs, who were eliminated by Philadelphia in the first round. "Jonas is a proven two-way player in the National Hockey League," Panthers general manager Rick Dudley said in a statement. "He has fine offensive ability and is an intelligent defensive player who will fit well into out system." In 545 career games, the 31-year-old Hoglund has posted 117 goals and 145 assists over eight seasons with Calgary, Montreal and Toronto. He was selected by the Flames with the 222nd overall pick in the 1992 NHL Entry Draft.
