St. Louis, MO (My Sportsbook) - The St. Louis Blues signed free agent defenseman Murray Baron on Friday. As per team policy, terms of the deal were not released. Baron played five seasons with the Blues after being acquired in a four-player deal in 1991. During his stay in St. Louis, Baron posted 47 points (12 goals, 35 assists) in 329 games. "Murray will increase our defensive depth and experience," said Blues senior vice president and general manager Larry Pleau. "He brings added character to our hockey club and plays a style that is tough to play against." The 37-year-old Baron registered six points along with 62 penalty minutes in 78 games with the Vancouver Canucks last season. He spent the last six seasons with Vancouver. Baron currently ranks 32nd on the Blues' all-time games played list and 13th on the club's all-time penalty minute list with 570. He was originally selected by the Philadelphia Flyers, 167th overall, in the 1986 NHL Entry Draft and also spent time with the Montreal Canadiens.
