Montreal, QC (My Sportsbook) - Montreal Canadiens forward Chad Kilger was taken to the hospital on Tuesday after an accidental high stick caught him in the left eye during training camp. Kilger, who does not wear a protective visor, sustained multiple fractures around the eye socket. He also sustained bleeding around the eye, and his sinuses may also be affected. The extent of the injury should be known in a few days, once the swelling subsides and doctors are able to run more tests. The 6-foot-4, 224-pound Kilger had nine goals and seven assists in 60 games for the Canadiens in 2002-03. The fourth overall pick in the 1995 NHL Draft, Kilger also has played for Anaheim, Edmonton, Chicago and the Winnipeg/Phoenix franchise during his eight-year NHL career. The Canadiens re-signed Kilger to a two-year contract on July 1.
