St. Petersburg, FL (My Sportsbook) - The Tampa Bay Devil Rays hired Dave Martinez on Thursday to serve as Joe Maddon's bench coach. Martinez, a former Rays outfielder, replaces Bill Evers. He joins third base coach Tom Foley, hitting coach Steve Henderson, first-base coach George Hendrick and bullpen coach Bobby Ramos, who have all inked two-year contracts. The 43-year-old Martinez served as a spring training instructor for Tampa Bay over the last two seasons. He also filled in as first-base coach for the first three weeks of the regular season. Martinez played with the Devil Rays from 1998-2000, batting .272 in 261 games. The club also announced Don Zimmer will return for his fifth season as senior baseball advisor.
