Memphis, TN (My Sportsbook) - The
Memphis Grizzlies acquired forward Bo Outlaw and center Jake Tsakalidis from the
Phoenix Suns on Tuesday in exchange for point guard Brevin Knight, forward Robert Archibald and center Cezary Trybanski.
The 6-foot-8 Outlaw has played 10 seasons in the NBA with the Los Angeles Clippers, Orlando Magic and Phoenix. Last season for the Suns, he averaged 4.7 points and 4.6 rebounds in 80 games, including 20 starts.
The 7-foot-2 Tsakalidis spent his first three seasons in the NBA with the Suns after being selected by Phoenix in the first round (25th overall) of the 2000 NBA Draft.
In 157 career games, including 113 starts, Tsakalidis has averaged 5.8 points and 4.7 rebounds.
"We are certainly happy to acquire the experience, defensive skills and high energy of Bo Outlaw. In addition, we have an opportunity to add some real size and strength with Tsakalidis on our team," said President of Basketball Operations Jerry West. "We are losing three great people, but we needed additional size and strength in the middle, and this trade helps us reach our goal."
Last season for Memphis, Knight averaged 3.9 points and 4.2 assists in 55 games, including four starts. He missed 22 contests due to injury. The six- year veteran has career averages of 7.6 points and 6.6 assists in 345 games.
Archibald, a second-round pick (32nd overall) in the 2002 Draft, played in just 12 games in his rookie campaign for the Grizzlies and averaged 1.6 points and 1.4 boards per outing.
Trybanski played in 15 games for Memphis last season and averaged 0.9 points and 0.9 rebounds per contest.
