New York, NY (My Sportsbook) - Twenty players changed teams during the National Hockey League waiver draft Friday, but Detroit Red Wings goaltender Curtis Joseph was not among them. Joseph was left unprotected by the Wings, who hoped someone would take his $8 million salary off their hands. The club has a crowded situation in net, as six-time Vezina winner Dominik Hasek unretired this summer and will be the starter when the season opens next week. Detroit general manager Ken Holland tried to deal Joseph after learning of Hasek's decision, but was unsuccessful. To make matters worse, Joseph has been fighting the effects of ankle surgery and his playing status is uncertain at this time. The most notable player selected in Friday's draft was center Travis Green, who went from the Toronto Maple Leafs to the Columbus Blue Jackets. The Jackets, however, turned around and traded Green to the Boston Bruins in exchange for a sixth-round pick. Green, entering his 12th NHL season, scored 12 goals with 12 assists for the Leafs last season. Veteran defenseman Todd Simpson, who went from Phoenix to Anaheim, and backup goaltender Jani Hurme, whom Carolina selected from Florida, were among the other notable players chosen. Hurme was then dealt to Atlanta for a fourth- round selection in 2004. The following is a full list of players picked in Friday's waiver draft: Pittsburgh takes D Nolan Baumgartner from Vancouver; Nashville takes F Wade Brookbank from Ottawa; Atlanta takes F Serge Aubin from Colorado; Montreal takes F Darren Langdon from Vancouver; New York Rangers take F Joel Bouchard from Pittsburgh; New York Rangers take F Sheldon Keefe from Tampa Bay; New York Rangers take F Mike Siklenka from Philadelphia; Nashville takes G Chris Mason from Florida; Atlanta takes F Ronald Petrovicky from New York Rangers; Montreal takes F Steve Begin from Buffalo; Washington takes F Brian Willsie from Colorado; Washington takes D Denis Hamel from Ottawa; Anaheim takes D Todd Simpson from Phoenix; St. Louis takes F Jeff Heerema from NYR; Florida takes G Steve Valiquette from Edmonton; Atlanta takes D Shawn Heins from NYR; Ottawa takes F Glen Metropolit from Washington; Carolina takes G Jani Hurme from Florida.
