Oakland, CA (My Sportsbook) - The Golden State Warriors exercised fourth- year contract options on guard Jason Richardson and forward Troy Murphy, team general manager Garry St. Jean announced Friday. "We're excited to have Jason and Troy in the fold through the 2004-05 season," St. Jean said. "We think both of these young men are going to be very special players and will be the key to our future success." The 22-year-old Richardson is coming off a career season during which he averaged a personal-best 15.6 points, 4.6 rebounds and 3.0 assists over 82 games. He also became just the second player ever (Michael Jordan) to win back-to-back Slam Dunk Contests. Murphy, also 22, established career highs of his own with 10.2 points, 11.7 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 2002-03. He was only one of five players to average a double-double in points and rebounds and finished third in the NBA's Most Improved Player balloting.
