New Orleans, LA (My Sportsbook) - New Orleans Hornets forward Jamal Mashburn underwent successful arthroscopic surgery Monday to remove loose particles in his right knee. Mashburn will begin rehabilitation and is expected to be sidelined for 6-8 weeks. Mashburn sat out all eight preseason contests as well as the first three regular-season contests because of a bone bruise on the knee. He was placed on the injured list last Monday. The 30-year-old Mashburn was the Hornets' leading scorer during the 2002-03 campaign with a 21.6 points-per-game average. He played in all 82 games last season, including 81 starts, and also posted averages of 6.1 rebounds and 5.6 assists.
