=== Thrashers lose Savard for 8-10 weeks === Atlanta, GA (My Sportsbook) - Atlanta Thrashers center Marc Savard will undergo surgery on Tuesday to repair torn ligaments in his left ankle, forcing him to miss 8-10 weeks. The surgery is expected to be performed by head team physician Dr. Scott Gillogly at St. Joseph's Hospital in Atlanta. Savard suffered torn tibia-fibula ligaments in the second period of a 2-2 tie with the San Jose Sharks. He will have two screws inserted into the ankle to create stability. The loss could prove costly for the Thrashers, who are off to a good start to the season with a 5-3-3-1 record. Savard already has five goals and 14 points in 12 games this season, tying him for fifth in the league in points and assists. In 364 NHL games, Savard has scored 90 goals and assisted on 176 others. He has also played for the New York Rangers. Savard was originally selected by the Rangers in the fourth round, 91st overall, of the 1995 NHL Entry Draft.
