Indianapolis, IN (My Sportsbook) - The
Minnesota Timberwolves look to remain unbeaten on the young season Saturday when they face the
Indiana Pacers in their first road game of the campaign.
The Timberwolves, who began last season 6-0, held on for a 111-105 win over the Orlando Magic on Friday, as Kevin Garnett recorded a triple-double with 23 points, 14 rebounds and 10 assists.
Garnett posted his seventh-career triple-double.
Troy Hudson scored 19 points and Loren Woods added 18 points and seven rebounds for Minnesota, which had defeated Denver, 83-77, in the season- opener.
Anthony Peeler netted 16 points, including a 4-of-6 performance from beyond the arc. The Wolves finished 7-of-10 from three-point range, as Hudson made three of his four shots from beyond the arc.
Wally Szczerbiak, who signed a contract extension prior to the game, missed his second straight contest with a left foot injury. He is questionable for Saturday's affair.
The Pacers are coming off their first loss of the year, a 102-91 defeat to New Jersey. It was the first meeting between the teams since they played each other in the first round of the playoffs last season, with the Nets defeating the Pacers in five games.
The teams continued where they left off last spring, as it was physical throughout and tempers flared for most of the contest. There were a total of 59 personal fouls, nine technical fouls and three players were ejected in the second half.
The Pacers' Erick Strickland was the first player tossed after he was called for a flagrant foul on Lucious Harris late in the third period. Jason Kidd was then tossed early in the fourth after hitting Jamaal Tinsley with an elbow to the face and New Jersey's Anthony Johnson was later ejected for mouthing off to Tinsley.
Indiana played for the second straight game without All-Star guard Reggie Miller, who is sidelined with a sprained right ankle.
Ron Mercer led the Pacers with 16 points and Jermaine O'Neal added 14.
The Pacers and Wolves split two meetings last season, with the road team winning each contest. However, Indiana has won seven of the last 10 meetings overall and owns a 10-2 home mark all-time versus Minnesota.
