Salt Lake City, UT (My Sportsbook) - The Jazz are hoping to avoid their first 0-3 start since their first year in Utah on Saturday when they battle the
Golden State Warriors in their home-opener.
A year after moving from New Orleans, Utah began the 1979-80 campaign with four straight losses and were 2-19 after 21 games.
The Jazz have struggled early this season, falling at New Orleans in their opener, 100-75, before dropping a 105-98 decision at Atlanta.
The Jazz were led by Karl Malone in Thursday's loss to the Hawks, as he dropped in 20 points and grabbed nine boards. Malone also had 20 points against the Hornets.
Malone played just one minute in the second quarter in Thursday's contest before going to the bench with an apparent hip injury. He returned to start the third, however, and appeared unhurt the rest of the game.
John Stockton added 15 points and dished out 11 assists against the Hawks, while Matt Harpring and Jarron Collins came off the bench to put up solid numbers. Harpring poured in 19 tough points and Collins added 18.
The Warriors are coming off their first loss of the year, a 106-93 home setback to Seattle on Friday.
Antawn Jamison had 24 points and seven rebounds and Gilbert Arenas added 19 points and 11 assists for the Warriors, who had won their season-opener by upsetting San Antonio on Wednesday. Erick Dampier added 13 points and 11 boards for Golden State, which lost to Seattle for the 13th straight time.
Troy Murphy had nine points, 11 rebounds and six assists in the loss, while rookie Mike Dunleavy had seven points and 10 boards.
Forward Danny Fortson (personal) and guard Bob Sura (right calf) missed Friday's game and are questionable for Saturday's tilt.
The Jazz have dominated this series, winning the last six meetings with Golden State and 23 of the previous 24. Utah also has won 15 straight on its home court against the Warriors.
