New York, NY (My Sportsbook) - Washington Capitals center Robert Lang was named the National Hockey League's Offensive Player of the Week for the period ending Sunday, November 16, while Edmonton Oilers goaltender Ty Conklin garnered defensive honors. Lang led all NHL scorers last week with eight points (five goals, three assists) in four games and extended his consecutive-game point streak to nine. He recorded his first career hat trick and added an assist in a 7-1 victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning on November 12. Conklin posted a 3-1 record for the week with a 2.21 goals-against average and .931 save percentage. He notched his first NHL shutout on November 13 at Minnesota, turning aside 22 shots in a 2-0 victory. Calgary Flames rookie center Matthew Lombardi was runner-up for the offensive honor, while Nashville Predators defenseman Kimmo Timonen and Mighty Ducks of Anaheim defenseman Vitali Vishnevski were runners-up for the defensive award.
