(My Sportsbook) - The Atlanta Thrashers try to halt a three-game losing streak this evening when they open a two-game road trip against the New York Islanders at the Nassau Coliseum. Atlanta's latest setback came on Thursday, as it dropped a 4-2 decision to the Toronto Maple Leafs at Philips Arena. Ilya Kovalchuk and Tobias Enstrom each scored for the Thrashers, whose slide comes on the heels of a four-game winning streak. Johan Hedberg made 21 saves in the loss. Kovalchuk, who leads the league with 20 tallies, has scored six of the Thrashers' 17 goals over the last seven games. However, Kovalchuk has found the back of the net just seven times in his 20 games against the Islanders. The Thrashers, who will close their swing with a stop in New Jersey on Sunday, are 7-7-0 away from home this season. New York, meanwhile, also comes in on a sour note after falling 4-2 to its cross-town rival Rangers on Thursday at Madison Square Garden. Rick DiPietro allowed four goals on 31 shots for the Islanders, who are now 2-3-1 in their last six games overall. Miroslav Satan and Mike Comrie scored in the losing effort. The Islanders, the Eastern Conference's lowest scoring team with just 56 goals, has not scored more than two goals in 11 straight games, going just 4-5-1 in that span. These teams split four meetings last season, but the Islanders have won seven of the last 10 matchups. The Thrashers have also dropped four of five and eight of their last 11 on Long Island.
