New York, NY (My Sportsbook) - Former Orlando Magic head coach Doc Rivers did not stay unemployed for long, as ABC Sports hired him Thursday as an analyst on its top announcing team. Rivers was fired following a Monday night loss to Utah, which dropped the team to 1-10, and was replaced by assistant Johnny Davis. He will work with Al Michaels on certain regular season and playoff games, including the NBA Finals. Rivers and Michaels will team up beginning on Christmas Day in Los Angeles when the Lakers take on the Houston Rockets. Before heading to Orlando as the team's head coach, Rivers worked as an analyst on Turner Sports' NBA broadcasts. Rivers had been the Orlando coach since June 7, 1999 and produced a 171-168 record. In his tenure, the Magic have made the playoffs in each of the last three seasons. The 13-year veteran as a player, Rivers was honored as NBA Coach of the Year in 1999-2000.
