An own-goal by Jan Vertonghen handed NAC a 1-0 halftime lead, but the visitors built on their advantage in the second half, getting goals from Matthew Amoah and Ahmed Ammi before Klaas-Jan Huntelaar pulled a consolation goal back for Ajax in stoppage time. The defeat keeps Ajax in second place, two points back of PSV Eindhoven, and level on points with Feyenoord, who got two first-half goals from Roy Makaay en route to a 6-0 pounding of Heracles on Sunday. Heerenveen is now fourth in the table after slipping past NEC 1-0 on a goal from Jacob Poulsen, while Twente moved into the top five after beating AZ Alkmaar 2-1.
