Amsterdam, Netherlands (My Sportsbook) - Ajax missed out on an opportunity to reclaim the lead in the Eredivisie standings as the club suffered its first league defeat of the campaign on Sunday, a 3-1 loss to NAC at Amsterdam Arena. An own-goal by Jan Vertonghen handed NAC a 1-0 halftime lead, but the visitors built on their advantage in the second half, getting goals from Matthew Amoah and Ahmed Ammi before Klaas-Jan Huntelaar pulled a consolation goal back for Ajax in stoppage time. The defeat keeps Ajax in second place, two points back of PSV Eindhoven, and level on points with Feyenoord, who got two first-half goals from Roy Makaay en route to a 6-0 pounding of Heracles on Sunday. Heerenveen is now fourth in the table after slipping past NEC 1-0 on a goal from Jacob Poulsen, while Twente moved into the top five after beating AZ Alkmaar 2-1. Blaise N'Kufo scored a goal in each half before Graziano Pelle got a goal back for AZ in the 72nd minute.
