Colorado Avalanche will try to pick up their first win of the season on home ice this evening when they kick off a five- game homestand against the
Vancouver Canucks.
Colorado, which has posted an 0-1-3-0 mark at the Pepsi Center, is unbeaten in its last two (1-0-1) overall and most recently skated to a 4-4 tie with the Calgary Flames on Saturday.
Joe Sakic had two goals and one assist for the Avalanche in the deadlock, while Peter Forsberg posted a goal and three assists. Colorado has notched at least a point in all but one of 11 games this season (4-1-4-2).
Sakic, who has netted six goals in his last three games, has nine goals on the year and is now just eight shy of 500 for his career.
Patrick Roy finished with 27 saves for the Avalanche, stopping all five shots he faced in overtime.
Forsberg has tallied 46 career points (14g, 32a) against the Canucks, which matches his highest total against an NHL team (Edmonton). Milan Hejduk has lit the lamp 16 times versus Vancouver.
Vancouver enters Monday's contest on a high note, as it picked up a win over the upstart Minnesota Wild on Saturday.
Todd Bertuzzi had a goal and an assist to key a three-goal burst in a span of 1:08, as the Canucks skated to a 4-2 victory over the Wild at the Xcel Energy Center. The Canucks snapped a four-game winless streak (0-2-2) and won for only the second time in their last 10 (2-4-4).

Vancouver, which snapped a four-game losing streak on the road to the Avs last season, is just 2-7-1 in its last 10 and 3-12-3 in its last 15 in Denver.
