(My Sportsbook) - The
Milwaukee Bucks were all too eager to rid themselves of Glenn Robinson. Ray Allen had some very unkind things to say upon Big Dog's departure, and the rest of his Bucks' teammates agreed Robinson was the toxin in the team's chemistry.
It's been said many times, one man's garbage is another man's gold. Since Robinson's arrival in Atlanta, he's played at an extremely high level. Although it's a small control group thus far, this experiment has proved that Robinson can not only be a legitimate second option to Shareef Abdur-Rahim, but he may end up as the first option on many nights.
Robinson scored 34 points in the season-opener against New Jersey, 30 in the home-opener against Utah and 30 against the Bulls on Saturday night to become the first Hawk in franchise history to score 30 or more points in each of the first three games of a season.
"I didn't think I'd come in with three back-to-back-to-back 30-point games," Robinson told the Atlanta Journal Constitution. "I'm here to help this team out, whether it's scoring, rebounding or passing the ball. I'm getting big numbers, but I'm not taking a bunch of shots."
Robinson is shooting 34-for-66 (51.5 percent) from the field this season and has made 24-of-25 free throws.
"He's one of the best scorers, flat-out scorers, in the league," Alan Henderson said.
Robinson is also second on the team in assists, behind only Jason Terry.
"He has really moved the ball well, found open receivers, and made some nice shots," Hawks coach Lon Kruger said. "He's really been accepted by the other guys. The guys know he's playing real hard."
