Atlanta, GA (My Sportsbook) - Atlanta Thrashers head coach Don Waddell has been added to the Eastern Conference staff as an assistant for Sunday's NHL All-Star Game. The Thrashers are hosting this year's All-Star festivities. Waddell will replace New Jersey's Brent Sutter as an assistant to East head coach John Paddock of Ottawa. No reason was given for the change. Paddock and Sutter had earned the coaching staff assignments because their respective teams had the conference's top records as of January 5. Waddell added the head coaching duties to his role as the Thrashers' general manager on October 17 after he fired Bob Hartley when the club lost its first six games of the season. The Thrashers are 23-19-4 since the move.
