Sunrise, FL (My Sportsbook) - The
Florida Panthers attempt to halt a five- game winless streak tonight when they welcome the
Boston Bruins to the Office Depot Center.
The Panthers were dealt an overtime loss last Saturday night when Slava Kozlov scored with 2:03 remaining in the extra session to lift the Atlanta Thrashers to a 4-3 win.
Matt Cullen, Byron Ritchie, and Nathan Horton scored for the Panthers, who are 0-2-2-1 in their last five and have just two victories in their previous 10 tilts (2-5-2-1). Roberto Luongo made 38 saves in net for Florida.
The Panthers, who are 4-7-2-1 at the home this season, complete their four- game homestand on Friday night against Montreal.
Boston played to a 2-2 tie with the Senators on Monday night at the FleetCenter, stretching its winless streak to three games (0-1-2). Wade Redden's goal late in the second period evened the score for Ottawa.
Dan McGillis and Glen Murray tallied goals for Boston, which has won only once in its last eight contests (1-3-3-1). Andrew Raycroft turned aside 28 shots for the Bruins.
Tonight's game starts a four-game road trip for Boston, which is an impressive 8-2-1-3 as the visitor this season. The Bruins are also four points behind Toronto for first-place in the Northeast Division.
On the injury front, left wing Michal Grosek is suffering from a shoulder injury, but will make the trip with the team. However, wingers P.J. Axelsson and Sandy McCarthy will remain behind in Boston for treatment. Axelsson has missed the last five games with a shoulder injury and McCarthy suffered a groin ailment in Monday night's game.
Boston is unbeaten in the last three meetings (2-0-1) with the Panthers and 1-0-1 in its previous two trips to Sunrise.
The teams met earlier this season and played to a 1-1 tie on October 11 at the Office Depot Center.
