Vancouver, BC (My Sportsbook) - The Vancouver Canucks swapped left wingers with the Washington Capitals Tuesday, acquiring Matt Pettinger for Matt Cooke in a trade deadline deal. Pettinger, 27, has recorded two goals and five assists in 56 games this season with Capitals. He's spent each of his NHL seasons with Washington, after being selected in the second round of the 2000 draft by the Capitals. Pettinger has 52 goals and 99 points in 334 career games. Cooke, 29, has seven goals and nine assists in 61 games this season. He has 83 goals and 203 points in 566 career games, spread out over nine seasons in Vancouver. The move was part of a busy Tuesday for the Capitals, as they also acquired veteran forward Sergei Fedorov from the Columbus Blue Jackets, and goaltender Cristobal Huet from the Montreal Canadiens.
