Detroit Pistons try to extend their season-high six-game winning streak tonight when they welcome Yao Ming and the
Houston Rockets to The Palace of Auburn Hills.
Earlier this season, Houston knocked off the Pistons, 86-80, on December 6 at the Toyota Center. The Rockets' win snapped a two-game series losing streak.
Richard Hamilton scored 15 points to lead the Pistons to a 78-68 win over the Boston Celtics on Monday at the FleetCenter.
Tayshaun Prince and Elden Campbell each chipped in 13 points, while Ben Wallace netted 12 and a game-high 16 rebounds for Detroit, which allowed its fewest points in a game this season.
Detroit extended its own single-season record by not allowing an opponent to score at least 100 points in a game for the 35th straight contest. Dating back to last season, the Pistons have kept their opponents under 100 points for an NBA record 37 consecutive games.
The Pistons, who have won four straight at home, are 13-5 as the host this season.
The Rockets come into tonight's contest on a three-game winning streak.
On Monday, Maurice Taylor came off the bench for Houston to score a season- high 25 points on 12-of-19 shooting, as the Rockets posted an 83-65 win over Golden State at the Toyota Center.
Jim Jackson scored 18 points for the Rockets, while Cuttino Mobley netted 14 and Yao contributed 10 points with 10 rebounds. The Rockets also held an opponent under 80 points for the 11th time this season to set a franchise record.
Houston head coach Jeff Van Gundy tied Paul Westphal for 50th place on the NBA's all-time victories list with 267.
The Rockets, who have lost four of their last six on the road, are 7-10 as the visitor this season.
The Pistons have won three of the last five meetings with the Rockets, who have lost two straight and six of their last seven at Detroit.
