Madison, WI (My Sportsbook) - University of Wisconsin sophomore running back Anthony Davis was charged on Tuesday with a misdemeanor count of battery. Davis allegedly punched his girlfriend in the face after the two had an argument early Sunday, and then she stabbed him in the leg. He was released from the University of Wisconsin Hospital on Monday, and according to the school, the knife came very close to hitting a major artery. Davis suffered a half-inch puncture to his left thigh. No timetable has been established for Davis' return to the lineup. Davis, last season's Big Ten Freshman of the Year, was released on Tuesday from the Dane County Jail. He has a hearing scheduled for November 14, and faces a maximum penalty of nine months in jail and a $10,000 fine. Tiffany L. Spears, 22, faces second-degree charges of recklessly endangering safety and aggravated battery. The maximum penalty is 15 years in prison and $20,000 in fines. She was released on a signature bond on Tuesday after her initial court appearance. The 20-year-old Davis has racked-up 1,001 yards rushing on 204 carries this season, his second-straight with at least 1,000 yards on the ground. He also has scored six touchdowns. Wisconsin is 6-4 overall this season, but has struggled to a 1-4 Big Ten conference record. The Badgers host conference foe Illinois this Saturday.
