(My Sportsbook) - With all the playoff positions taken in the Western Conference, the Calgary Flames and Vancouver Canucks will meet tonight at General Motors Place to close out their regular seasons.

The Flames made the postseason, while Vancouver, champions of the Northwest Division a year ago, will miss the playoffs for just the second time in seven years.

Calgary has 92 points and is currently seventh in the Western Conference standings. The Flames are one point behind Colorado, which plays its final test of the regular season Sunday against visiting Colorado. Calgary can't finish lower than seventh thanks to Nashville closing out its schedule with Friday's regulation loss in Chicago.

Vancouver has already won the season series against the Flames, posting a 5-2 mark in the seven meetings. Overall, the Canucks have taken nine of 13 against Calgary and have won three straight, five of six and seven of nine at GM Place.

The Flames have lost three of their last four games and are coming off Thursday's setback at Minnesota. Marian Gaborik scored twice in the third period to boost Minnesota over the Flames, 3-1, as the Wild captured their first-ever Northwest Division title.

Despite the loss, Calgary still clinched a playoff spot as Vancouver was eliminated from postseason contention later on Thursday following a 2-1 home loss to Edmonton.

Daymond Langkow had the lone goal for the Flames, while Miikka Kiprusoff stopped 23 shots in defeat.

The Flames are closing out the regular season on a four-game road trip and are 20-19-1 as the visiting team this year. Calgary has dropped four of five and six of its last eight road tilts.

The Canucks have lost two straight and six of their last seven games. They had their playoff hopes officially ended on Thursday, as they lost to Edmonton and Nashville beat St. Louis to secure the eighth and final postseason berth in the West.

Dwayne Roloson stopped 37-of-38 shots to lead the Oilers to a 2-1 decision at GM Place.

Alex Burrows scored the lone goal for Vancouver, and Roberto Luongo gave up both goals on 21 shots.

The Canucks are 1-2-0 on a season-ending, four-game homestand and are 21-14-5 as the host club this year.
