New York, NY (My Sportsbook) -
New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady,
Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Artrell Hawkins and
New York Jets punt returner Santana Moss have been named the Offensive, Defensive and Special Teams Players of the Week, respectively, for the ninth week of the NFL season.
Brady, who led the Patriots to a 38-7 victory over the Buffalo Bills, completed 23 of 27 passes for 310 yards and four touchdowns without an interception.
This is the fourth AFC Offensive Player of the Week Award for the 25-year-old quarterback and his second of the season.
Cincinnati's Hawkins took the defensive honors after posting six tackles, defensed three passes and made a game-changing play when he intercepted a third-down pass two yards deep in the Bengals' end zone and returned it 102 yards for a score to help Cincinnati defeat the Houston Texans 38-3.
The 102-yard interception return tied former Bengals cornerback Louis Breeden for the longest in club history.
The University of Cincinnati product won the AFC Defensive Player of the Week Award for the first time in his career.
With five punt returns for 116 yards, the Jets' Moss earned the special team honors. In New York's 44-13 pounding of San Diego, Moss highlighted his day with a 52-yard return for a touchdown.
Moss has now returned punts for touchdowns in consecutive weeks. The last player with punt-return TDS in two straight weeks during the same season was J.T. Smith for Kansas City in 1979.
Moss, who earned the award for the first time in his career, leads the NFL with a punt-return average of 20.6
Other nominees for AFC Offensive Player of the Week were Cincinnati quarterback Jon Kitna, New York Jets quarterback Chad Pennington, Baltimore wide receiver Travis Taylor and Pittsburgh running back Amos Zereoue.
Tennessee linebacker Keith Bulluck, Pittsburgh safety Lee Flowers. New England cornerback Ty Law, Baltimore safety Ed Reed, Tennessee linebacker Peter Sirmon and Tennessee safety Tank Williams were also considered for the AFC Defensive Player of the Week.
Steelers kicker Todd Peterson and Jets kicker John Hall were both nominated for AFC Special Teams Player of the Week.
