New Orleans Hornets go for their fourth straight win tonight when they visit the struggling
Philadelphia 76ers at the Wachovia Center.
This is the third meeting between the two teams this season. New Orleans beat the Sixers, 106-99, in overtime on November 5, 2003 at the Wachovia Center, while Philadelphia defeated the Hornets, 92-86, on January 21, 2004 at New Orleans.
The 76ers are expected to have their leading scorer Allen Iverson back in the lineup tonight. The All-Star guard has been sidelined the last two game with a sprained right index finger. Philadelphia is 5-9 this season without Iverson.
On Thursday, Iverson was officially named a starting guard for the Eastern Conference for February 15th's All-Star Game in Los Angeles.
Glenn Robinson, who voiced his displeasure with his playing time in Tuesday's home loss to New Jersey, is averaging 20.9 points per game in Philadelphia's last eight games.
Philadelphia, which has lost four straight at home, has dropped four in a row overall. The 76ers are 10-12 at the Wachovia Center this season.
On Wednesday, Jamal Mashburn made his season debut and scored 24 points off the bench, including his team's final 13, as New Orleans edged the Milwaukee Bucks, 101-100, at New Orleans Arena.
Mashburn, who was activated from the injured list on Tuesday, had missed the first 44 games of the season after undergoing arthroscopic surgery in training camp to remove loose particles in his right knee. The Kentucky product ended 10-of-19 from the field in 34 minutes.
Baron Davis, who returned after missing three games with an ankle injury, scored 23 points and handed out 10 assists in the win for the Hornets, who have won four of their last six games. Jamaal Magloire finished with 16 points and 10 rebounds in the victory.
New Orleans is 12-11 on the road this season.
The Hornets, who have won two of their last three contests with the 76ers, have won two straight and three of their last four at Philadelphia.
