Marko Jaric posted 20 points and Chris Wilcox added 18 for the Clippers, who won their second straight game, snapped an eight-game losing streak in Atlanta and swept the season series between the teams. Quentin Richardson posted 14 points and 12 rebounds for Los Angeles, which used a 10-2 run midway through the third quarter to rally from a 58-56 deficit. Eddie House's three-pointer put the team ahead 66-60. Theo Ratliff's basket later brought the Hawks within 69-68 with 2:53 to play in the third. But a three-point play at the end of the quarter by Richardson pushed the Los Angeles edge to 78-72. Richardson's basket on the Clippers' initial possession of the fourth quarter opened an 80-72 lead for the visitors. Two free throws by Dion Glover pulled Atlanta within 89-87 with 5:55 to go. However, Los Angeles went on a decisive 12-3 run later in the final quarter. Six straight points, capped by Brand's short jumper, to start the run put the team ahead 95-87 with 4:28 remaining. After the burst came to a conclusion, the Hawks got no closer than five points the rest of the way. The Clippers are off until Wednesday when they visit the Boston Celtics. |
