Davie, FL (My Sportsbook) -
Miami Dolphins quarterback Ray Lucas is questionable for Sunday's game against the
New York Jets because of a right shoulder injury. He split practice time on Wednesday with Sage Rosenfels, who could get the start Sunday if Lucas is unable to play.
Meanwhile on Wednesday, the speculation that the Dolphins are interested in luring former Dallas Cowboys star Troy Aikman out of retirement continued to circulate. ESPN reported that the Dolphins had made third-party inquiries into Aikman's desire to leave the broadcast booth.
Lucas was injured in the second quarter of Monday night's 24-10 loss to Green Bay and had an MRI exam, which revealed no broken bones or tears in the shoulder.
Rosenfels was 0-for-3 passing in his first NFL game, before Lucas came back into the contest for the second half.
Lucas connected on 22-of-39 passes for 198 yards and was intercepted twice Monday night. He has started the last two games for Miami, replacing the injured Jay Fiedler, who is expected to miss at least another two games because of a broken right thumb.
The Dolphins are 0-2 since Fiedler was hurt. Lucas had a dismal outing in a loss to Buffalo on October 20, throwing four interceptions in his first NFL start since 1999.
Aikman used to play for current Dolphins offensive coordinator Norv Turner in Dallas and the former quarterback's agent has said in the past that his client would only come out of retirement "in the right situation."
Rosenfels is in his second NFL season. The former Iowa State star was acquired from the Washington Redskins just before the season.
Miami's third-string quarterback is Dave Dickenson.
