Green Bay, WI (My Sportsbook) - Green Bay Packers defensive end Vonnie Holliday returned to the lineup on Monday after missing six weeks with a torn pectoral muscle, but he will be sidelined again for at least another two weeks after undergoing arthroscopic surgery on Thursday for a meniscus tear in his right knee. Holliday was hurt in Monday's 24-10 victory over the Miami Dolphins. The injury apparently occurred during the third quarter of Monday's game, but he continued to play and did not report any pain after the contest. However, he woke up the next morning with swelling in the knee. An MRI exam later revealed the nature of the injury and on Wednesday he agreed to have surgery. "Initially he wanted to play through it," said Packers head coach Mike Sherman. "But in talking to the doctors, it just felt like it would be a debilitating injury for him, and our best choice and his best choice is to have surgery [Thursday]. "It's disappointing, but he's not discouraged. He told me he'd be back as soon as possible." Holliday could return as early as late November or sometime in December. Aaron Kampman, who started four games in place of Holliday, will likely return to that role. The Packers, on Wednesday, also re-signed defensive lineman Jared Tomich.
