Cleveland Cavaliers try to put the brakes on a three-game losing streak tonight when they welcome Paul Pierce and the
Boston Celtics to Gund Arena.
This is the fourth and final meeting between the two teams this season. Boston has won the three previous contests, winning twice at the FleetCenter and once in Cleveland.
The Celtics have dominated the Cavs, winning 13 straight overall and six in a row at Cleveland.
The Cavaliers last victory over Boston was on November 4, 2000 at Cleveland. The Cavs won the contest by a score of 91-89.
Cleveland plays the second of a five-game homestand tonight.
On Saturday, the Cavaliers came up short, dropping a 106-88 decision to the Washington Wizards in front of their home crowd. Carlos Boozer paced Cleveland with 19 points in defeat, while Zydrunas Ilgauskas scored 15 and ripped down 11 rebounds.
LeBron James finished with 14 points on Saturday, while Eric Williams scored 13 and Dajuan Wagner added 10.
The Cavs, who have lost four of their last six overall, are 13-11 as the host this season.
Boston plays the second of a seven-game road trip tonight.
The Celtics come into tonight's game fresh off of snapping their six-game losing streak. On Saturday, Boston crushed the Philadelphia 76ers, 110-80, at the Wachovia Center.
Pierce poured in a game-high 35 points to pace the Celtics to the win, while Ricky Davis added 20 points. The victory was Boston's first since January 23rd, and it was also the first in six tries under interim head coach John Carroll.
The Celtics are 2-5 in Monday games this season.
Boston is 12-12 on the road this season.
