Nashville, TN (My Sportsbook) -
Tennessee Titans quarterback Steve McNair sat out practice Wednesday because of a toe injury. He is expected to return to practice later this week and is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against Houston.
"I think he will practice tomorrow," said Titans head coach Jeff Fisher. "He is in a boot and he still has some swelling. We are hopeful that we can get him in a shoe and then let him practice tomorrow."
McNair is bothered by turf toe on his right foot. He had a protective boot placed on his foot on Monday after swelling developed from playing on the artificial turf at Indianapolis this past Sunday.
The Titans, who earned a 23-15 win against the Colts to forge a tie with Indianapolis atop the AFC South at 4-4, could have a couple of injured players return this week.
Defensive end Jevon Kearse worked out Wednesday and is questionable for this week's game. He has not played since breaking his foot in the season-opener against Philadelphia.
"Jevon did some running today; he is still a little sore," said Fisher. "We will try and pick up the activity.
"He has a support device in the shoe, a brace, an orthodic. He might as well have a tool box inside of his shoe right now. His car keys are in there, so he is a little uncomfortable."
Running back Robert Holcombe worked out in drills on Wednesday. He is recovering from a cracked hip suffered in the season-opener and is also listed as questionable for Sunday.
Fullback Greg Comella has missed the last two games with a dislocated shoulder also practiced Wednesday and "looked okay," according to Fisher.
The Titans have three-quarters of their starting defensive backfield listed as questionable for Sunday's game. Safeties Lance Schulters and Tank Williams each have shoulder injuries, as does cornerback Samari Rolle.
