Phoenix, AZ (My Sportsbook) - The upstart Minnesota Wild will try and remain unbeaten on enemy ice this season when they continue a four-game road trip against the Phoenix Coyotes at America West Arena on Thursday.
Marian Gaborik recorded his third career hat-trick as the Wild defeated the Los Angeles Kings 5-2, at the Staples Center on Monday. Minnesota improved to 9-2-2 on the season with the victory, and its 20 points are the most in the Western Conference and are tied for the most in the NHL with the Philadelphia Flyers.
Cliff Ronning had a goal and two assists, and Antti Laaksonen scored for Minnesota, while Dwayne Roloson made 24 stops as the Wild improved to 3-0-2 on the road this season.
However, Minnesota should have Manny Fernandez back between the pipes this evening. Fernandez is 6-1-0 on the year with a 1.84 goals-against and a .936 save percentage
Gaborik has scored seven goals in his last six games. He also leads the team with 19 points, and is tied with Pittsburgh's Alexei Kovalev with 10 goals for the most in the NHL.
The 20-year-old winger notched a franchise-record six points (2g, 4a) against the Coyotes earlier in the season.
The Wild will conclude their road trip with stops in San Jose and Anaheim.
Phoenix will hope to extract a measure of revenge versus a Minnesota squad that embarrassed the Coyotes 6-1 back on October 26 thanks to the high-flying Gaborik.
The Coyotes also enter Thursday's tilt on a winning note with a 2-1 overtime victory over the Nashville Predators on Sunday.
Daniel Briere's power-play goal with 40 seconds left in overtime lifted Phoenix to the victory. Landon Wilson scored the other goal for the Coyotes, who have won two of their last three. Brian Boucher finished with 24 saves in the win.
Phoenix could get a boost on the blueline tonight with the return of defenseman Todd Simpson, who could see his first action since breaking his hand in a fight with Dallas' Manny Malhotra back on October 12.
Minnesota is 2-1-1 in the last four, but just 2-5-2 in the last nine. In the last five in Phoenix the Wild have posted an unimpressive 1-4 mark.
