Memphis, TN (My Sportsbook) - Lynn Lang, a former high school football coach, entered a guilty plea to a federal racketeering charge on Thursday for accepting $150,000 to convince a player to commit to the University of Alabama. Lang admitted to crossing state lines for a trip to Tuscaloosa, Alabama, to take part in a conspiracy to send defensive lineman Albert Means, who attended Memphis' Trezevant High, to the Crimson Tide in 2000. Lang also admitted to arranging someone to take Means' college entrance exam at the suggestion of an Alabama assistant coach. Means, who authorities say was unaware of the payoffs made to influence his decision, played for Alabama for one season before transferring to Memphis last year. He was academically ineligible to play this season. Alabama was sanctioned by the NCAA for rules violations, which included the events surrounding Means' recruitment. Lang's sentencing is scheduled for May 2. He faces up to five years in prison and fines of $250,000.
