Macao, China (My Sportsbook) - LeBron James scored 20 points on 8-of-9 shooting, and Carmelo Anthony scored 17 points to lead the USA Men's Basketball National team to a 114-82 rout of Turkey in an exhibition contest, their first in China. Dwight Howard had 14 points on 7-of-8 shooting and eight rebounds for the Americans, who shot nearly 70 percent (41-of-59) from the field in the win. Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh scored 13 points apiece, and Chris Paul added 12 points and six assists. Cenk Akyol had 22 points for Turkey, which hung tight in the first quarter before falling back in the second. Kerem Gonlum scored 12 points, and Ersan Ilyasova and Ender Arslan added 10 points apiece for Turkey. Turkey trailed only 31-30 after the first quarter, but Team USA's defense dominated in the second quarter, during which the Americans outscored Turkey 23-7. USA outscored Turkey 33-22 in the third period to expand its lead to 87-59 and cruised in from there. The performance by LeBron was encouraging, as the Cleveland Cavaliers star was returning to action after missing USA's first exhibition on July 25 with a mildly sprained ankle. "It was good having LeBron back," said USA and Duke University coach Mike Krzyzewski. "The willingness to give up the ball and share it and the enthusiasm is all there so it was a good opening exhibition in China." Team USA returns to the court on Friday at 8 a.m. (et) against Lithuania. Exhibitions against Russia and Australia in Shanghai are also on tap before preliminary round play of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games takes place Aug. 10-18. The U.S. opens preliminary play Aug. 10 against host China at 10:15 a.m. (et).
