Houston, TX (My Sportsbook) - New York Mets pitcher John Maine will miss his scheduled start against the Houston Astros on Sunday, according to the team's website. Maine has been suffering from a strained rotator cuff since exiting his July 28 start after just 4 1/3 innings. MRI results earlier in the week came back negative, and the Mets are taking extra precaution with one of their more consistent arms. The right-hander is 9-7 with a 4.13 earned run average and 109 strikeouts in 22 starts this season. Oliver Perez will move up in the rotation to take the hill on Sunday, while Maine is next slated to toe the rubber August 8 against the Marlins.
