Toronto, Ontario (My Sportsbook) - The Toronto Raptors announced Thursday that center Eric Montross has a continuing stress reaction to a micro fracture in the talus bone in his left foot. The injury was confirmed Wednesday following consultation with foot and ankle specialist Dr. Ned Amendola of the University of Iowa. The 31-year-old Montross will be treated with a hinged orthotic for four-to- six weeks, which will restrict the movement of his foot. He will then be re- evaluated at the end of the treatment process. Montross missed the final four games of the 2001-02 regular season as well as the playoffs with his injury. In 49 contests, he averaged 2.4 points and 2.9 rebounds per game. Earlier this week, Toronto center Hakeem Olajuwon was excused from reporting to the team's training camp in Waterloo, Ontario because of a lower back injury. There is a possibility Olajuwon will retire before the start of the season. The 39-year-old Olajuwon, who has a disc problem in his back, will remain on the team's active roster until his playing status can be determined.
