Toronto, ON (My Sportsbook) - Toronto Blue Jays third baseman Scott Rolen was placed on the 15-day disabled list following Sunday's 4-0 loss to the Cleveland Indians due to an ailing left shoulder. Rolen was penciled into Sunday's starting lineup after sitting out Saturday's game but was scratched and replaced by Marco Scutaro, who finished 2-for-4 in the game. The 33-year-old Rolen revealed Wednesday that he has been troubled by the shoulder problem. Rolen has had surgery on the shoulder three times, twice in 2005 and again last September. Hoping to avoid the knife for a fourth time, the slugger will attempt an extensive rehab program to improve the mechanical functioning of his shoulder. The five-time All-Star is hitting .252 with seven homers and 38 RBI over 88 games this season. He missed 23 games in April after injuring his hand during spring training.
