Memphis Grizzlies hope to capture their first win of the season while the
Golden State Warriors try to snap a six-game losing streak when two struggling teams face off at The Pyramid Monday.
The Grizzlies are in danger of matching their worst start in franchise history. In their inaugural season in Memphis last year, the Grizzlies dropped their first eight games to start the campaign.
Memphis had a great chance to post its first win of the season on Saturday, but fell to the Nuggets in Denver, 84-73.
Pau Gasol finished with 21 points and eight rebounds as the Grizzlies remained the NBA's only winless team. Memphis connected on 33 percent (23-of-70) of its field goal attempts, going 4-of-15 from beyond the arc.
Drew Gooden had 19 points and 12 rebounds for the Grizzlies, who also received 14 points off the bench from Wesley Person.
Memphis' Brevin Knight (right ankle sprain) left the game with 1:47 left in the first quarter. Knight is doubtful for Monday's game.
The Warriors opened the season with a win over San Antonio, but haven't posted a victory since. Most recently, they fell to the Rockets in Houston, 111-104, on Saturday.
Jason Richardson and Gilbert Arenas each netted 28 points for Golden State. Richardson also pulled down 13 boards, while Arenas handed out 10 assists.
Erick Dampier chipped in 23 points and nine rebounds and Antawn Jamison had 21 points for the Warriors.
Golden State is winless on the road this season, dropping the first five of a season-long, six-game road trip, which concludes Monday. Memphis owns an 0-3 home record.
The Warriors won the first three meetings with Memphis last season before the Grizzlies captured the final tilt. Golden State has dropped two of its last three road games against the Grizzlies.
