Lincoln, NE (My Sportsbook) - Heisman Trophy candidate Chase Daniel threw for 253 yards and three touchdowns on 18-of-23 passing to lead the fourth- ranked Missouri Tigers in a 52-17 rout of the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

Derrick Washington gained 139 yards and two TDs on 14 carries and added another touchdown via the air for Missouri (5-0, 1-0 Big 12), which won in Lincoln for the first time since 1978. Jeremy Maclin caught five passes for 89 yards and scored once. Danario Alexander also scored for the Tigers.

"This win was not about this 2008 team; this was about 30 years of a lot of different fans around the country and the world, Mizzou fans, certainly ex- players," said Missouri coach Gary Pinkel. "I am certainly proud of our players for competing hard and finally getting a win at one of the toughest places to play in the country."

Joe Ganz garnered 290 yards on 26-of-38 passing with a pair of touchdowns to only one interception for the Cornhuskers (3-2, 0-1), who still hold a 63-36-3 lead in the all-time series. Menelik Holt caught five passes for 67 yards and a score in defeat. Nate Swift also found the end zone for the 'Huskers.

"I apologized to the team," said Nebraska coach Bo Pelini. "I don't point the finger, I point the thumb. It all starts with me. We got out-coached tonight. We weren't well enough prepared. We got beat and we got beat soundly. I'm the head of this ship and I take full responsibility for it."

The Tigers wasted no time in getting on the board, as Daniel hit Maclin for a 58-yard TD pass on the third play of the game to give Missouri a 7-0 lead.

The Cornhuskers responded on their ensuing drive as Ganz hit Swift on a 20- yard score to cap a seven-play, 60-yard drive that tied the game with just under 10 minutes showing on the clock.

Washington's three-yard touchdown scamper gave Missouri a 14-7 lead it carried into the second stanza.

Jeff Wolfert nailed a 48-yard field goal with 10:54 left in the first half to make it a 10-point game in Missouri's favor.

After forcing a Nebraska punt, Jimmy Jackson's one-yard TD run put the finishing touches on a 10-play, 75-yard drive that gave the Tigers a 24-7 lead with a bit over four minutes left in the second quarter.

On the following 'Huskers drive Ganz was picked off by Brock Christopher, who returned the pigskin 17 yards to pay dirt. The score ballooned Mizzou's lead to 31-7 with 2:59 left before the intermission.

Alex Henery connected on a 28-yard field goal to make it 31-10, the score at the break.

The Tigers held the Cornhuskers to a punt on the opening drive of the third quarter and capitalized on the following possession.

Daniel hit Washington on a seven-yard TD pass that gave Missouri a 38-10 cushion with just over seven minutes left in the frame.

Nebraska was then again stopped and Washington capped a four-play, 72-yard drive with a 43-yard TD dash, making it 45-10.

Quentin Castille fumbled on the Cornhuskers' next drive and Luke Lambert scooped it up, which led to a 26-yard touchdown pass from Daniel to Alexander on the very next play. The score gave the Tigers a 42-point advantage with about 1 1/2 minutes left in the third.

On the final play of the game, Ganz hit Holt on a 20-yard touchdown strike to make it 52-17.

Game Notes

Missouri has won four of the last six matchups...Washington has scored at least two touchdowns in each of the five games this year...The 35-point loss was the most lopsided home defeat in 53 years and fifth-worst in Lincoln in the team's 119-year history...Missouri is unbeaten through five games for the third straight year.
